Heidi Jon Schmidt
Heidi Jon Schmidt is the author, most recently, of The House on Oyster Creek, a novel set among the shellfish farms of Wellfleet. Her stories and essays have been published in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Yankee, among others and won awards including the James Michener and O Henry awards.  Her fifth novel, The Harbormaster's Daughter, is forthcoming in August, 2012.
She has lived on the Cape since 1982 when she was offered a fellowship at The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.  She and her husband, (the writer R.D. Skillings, from whom this blog takes its name), have a daughter, Marisa, a student at Nauset High School.
