About Heidi
Heidi Jon Schmidt is the author, most recently, of The Harbormaster's Daughter, her fifth novel and the second set on the Outer Cape. Her stories and essays have been published in the New York Times, The Atlantic, Yankee, among others and won awards including the James Michener and O Henry awards.
She has lived on the Cape since 1982 when she was offered a fellowship at The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. She and her husband, (the writer R.D. Skillings, from whom this blog takes its name), have a daughter, Marisa, a student at Nauset High School.
She teaches in the Fine Arts Work Center summer writing program, and online at http://fawc.org/24pearlstreet/index.php The Fine Arts Work Center's online writers workshop.
