Medical Marijuana: Where's The Best Place To Grow and Sell In Barnstable?
Barnstable Town Council passed a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries, now they will be tasked with trying to find a location that fits the community.
This week, the state attorney general's office ruled that towns can regulate, but not ban medical marijuana dispensaries, according to the Boston Herald. The decision struck down Wakefield's ban, with the attorney general's office saying, “The act’s legislative purpose could not be served if a municipality could prohibit treatment centers within its borders, for if one municipality could do so, presumably all could do so,” reported the Herald. Town Council President Debra Dagwan said she is not surprised the Attorney General struck down Wakefield's ban. "It's a law, you can't go against the law," Dagwan said in a telephone interview.
