Cape Cod Woman Claims $1.4 Million Mega Money Jackpot

Linda Howell of Mashpee purchased the winning ticket in St. Petersburg Florida and claimed her winnings earlier this month.

  Howell, 65, claimed her winnings February 12, 2013. She chose the one-time lump sum payment option for her winnings, which was $1,133,777.54, according to a press release. Howell purchased the ticket at Derby Lane in St. Petersburg, Florida. The owner of Derby Lane received $1,000 commission for selling the winning ticket. The ticket was the 16th jack-pot winning Mega Money ticket sold in Pinellas County Florida since 2004.

The Lanes Bowl and Bistro Opens in Mashpee

The Lanes Bowl and Bistro in Mashpee Commons is far from your grandfather’s bowling alley. The new bowling alley combines upscale casual dining, bowling and entertainment for all ages.

  The Bobby Byrne Management Corp developed the new boutique-bowling venue.  The Lanes Bowl and Bistro took over the old Shaw’s Market on Green Street in Mashpee Commons. The facility includes a bistro, 10 bowling lanes, an entertainment stage, an outdoor bar and bocce court. Whether you are stopping to just grab a bite or for a round of bowling with friends the facility has something for everyone. The bowling alley has space for corporate events, kid’s birthday bowling parties and private parties. The Lanes Bowl and Bistro is open 7 days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

Mashpee High School Student Arrested for Sending Threatening Tweet

A Mashpee High School student was arrested for allegedly threatening another student from Rockland High School via Twitter.

Rockland police contacted Mashpee police Monday about the incident, according to a message from Rockland High School Principal Alan Cron posted on the school district’s website. Mashpee police then questioned and arrested the student accused of sending the threatening tweet.  Cron said in his statement that the teen arrested was charged with threatening to commit a crime and disturbing a school assembly. Rockland schools added additional security measures Tuesday due to the threat and upcoming basketball game between the two schools, according to the Rockland School Department’s website.

Wow, HS basketball, real serious stuff, sounds like another video game playing, rap music listening, I don't get off the cape too much cyber tough guy sitting in front of a public computer. good for the MPD and the RPD, they should send him or her the bill for the extra security. Mashpee graduates what 77% of the students, I am sure this person did all the homework, etc before the threat.   more ›
