Councilor Daley talks tax exemption time.
Summer officially ended this week. Welcome to fall! It is a great time of the year; especially here on Cape Cod. An excellent way to enjoy a beautiful fall day with an emphasis on West Barnstable is via the annual “West Barnstable Cranberry Express”. This special train ride takes place on Sunday afternoon October 21st. You can take a scenic ride from West Barnstable to the upper cape and back. The West Barnstable Civic Association and the Cape Cod Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society are sponsors. Tickets are already available from both groups. Fall is also the season of elections and taxes. This year voting is very important. The deadline to register is October 17th. However, it is just as important for our …

Barnstable Town Councilor June Daley shares her thoughts.
West Barnstable was well represented last month when the Town Council sought citizen volunteers. Two of the three candidates that stepped forward for the town’s open Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates position live in West Barnstable. I thank both Patrick Princi and Terry Duenas for their commitment to the town. Many West Barnstable residents in the highlands, north of the mid-cape highway, have been suffering for years with noise from the town’s firing range. To lessen the noise, the town needs to construct a sound proofing berm at the town firing range which is on conservation land. Given that the state helped fund the original 1,100 acres of land purchased where the firing range is located, the town is required by the state to …

The Town Council held our first public hearings and we have already taken several votes on the proposed FY 13 operating budget. We will continue working on the budget at our regular meeting next week. As a town councilor with portions of my precinct lying within four of the town's seven villages, I have learned that each village library has its own special needs. So this year I lobbied the town manager and asked that he try to help the town's libraries. I am very grateful that this year’s budget treats the seven village libraries more favorably than we have seen them treated in several prior annual budgets. I look forward to taking that budget vote. At the recent West Barnstable Civic Association meeting of the members Conservation …

I am writing first to express my gratitude to the voters from Precinct 11. I am humbled by the overwhelming support that I received at the polls on this past Tuesday. It will be an honor to serve as the Town Councilor from Precinct 11 for the next two years. I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported me in my election from the bottom of my heart. Next, for those of you who did not vote for me, I hope to earn your support. I know that just like my election, I must work hard to earn anything. I will start by first seeking to earn your trust and then I’ll work on earning your confidence. Please remember that all of us in this precinct cannot always agree on everything. So I hope you all will agree with me and allow us all to …

A West Barnstable resident advocates for Daley.
Vote for fiscal accountability along with candid transparent government in Barnstable! Vote for June Daley for Precinct 11 Town Councilor on November 8th! Barnstable cannot afford to continue on the political runaway train to disaster which has been the familiar hallmark of Town Councilor Hank Farnham's tenure in recent years. At this juncture, change is sorely needed in much the same way that we require fresh air to breath after driving too close to the Hyannis municipal sewage treatment facility on a hot summer day. That change will only happen if obvious "professional politicians" like Councilor Farnham are brought to heal. His relentless political career of eight years needs to be brought to a closure at the ballot box by genuinely …

On Nov. 8, the voters will decide what direction our community will take over the next few years. I am a candidate for Precinct 11 Town Councilor because I care deeply about our future. And I join many Precinct 11 residents who are deeply troubled at what is going on and who support change. Over the past several months, I have worked hard with some great volunteers to get out and met hundreds of residents in my door to door campaign. I have listened to their concerns. I agree with the vast majority of our neighbors that that have told me we have lost our way in Barnstable and that we need a new direction. I have heard your message of disappointment and disgust at the in-fighting and petty politics that exist today on our Town Council. I …

Precinct 11 Candidate is getting ready to knock on doors.
June Daley, a candidate for the Barnstable Town Council from Precinct 11, announced on Wednesday that she has expanded her campaign into the precinct’s three villages. “My campaign for the position of Precinct 11 Town Councilor is now in a very high visibility mode," Daley said in a press release. "Our efforts during the previous and current week are focused on activities where I can really expand my name recognition. In addition, through the increased visibility we are distributing bumper stickers and signing up campaign volunteers. It is a very exciting time for me.” The largest portion of Precinct 11 lies within the village of West Barnstable. June has been seen throughout West Barnstable on a regular basis since her debut during the …

June Daley, a candidate for the Barnstable Town Council from Precinct 11, announced today that she has enrolled in the Town’s Citizen Leadership Academy. The candidate said today, “This program is like a rare gem. We are lucky we have it. Over the years I have been both elected and appointed to governmental bodies here in Barnstable and I was a municipal department head in Mashpee for almost a quarter of a century. In spite of that wealth of personal experience in local government, I would be remiss if I did not take this valuable opportunity to learn all about the special ways that Barnstable conducts its business today.” The eighteenth session of Inside Barnstable Town Government, A Citizens Leadership Academy will begin Wednesday, …
