High-Speed Kart Race to Raise Money for Cape Charities

The 13th Annual Seaside LeMans will raise money for five Cape charities.

  Seaside LeMans announced Tuesday it will collaborate with Cape Cod Healthcare for this year’s race. All money raised during the event will benefit Outer Cape Health Services, the McCarthy Care Center, Children’s Cove, the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, and Cape Cod Healthcare. Organizers hope to raise more than a half a million dollars this year. Over the past 12 years Seaside LeMans has raised nearly $3.5 million for Cape Cod organizations. Driving sponsorships range from $1,700 to $10,000, depending on the number of drivers. The race will be held Saturday, September 7 in Mashpee Commons. Child Advocacy Organization to Hold Abuse Training

Children’s Cove will provide professionals training in detecting abuse.

Representatives of the Cape and Islands child advocacy center Children’s Cove will host a training for professionals who work with children, according to a press release. This training will include signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse, appropriate response including mandated reporting and some prevention.  Attendees will include school principals, assistant principals, athletic directors, coaches, and after school activity staff.  The training objective is to heighten awareness of child sexual abuse for professionals who work in direct contact with children in various capacities and assist in identifying signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse and offer some prevention strategies.  The training will be held on Feb. 1 from 9 am to 10:…
