Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects

Barnstable police arrested two men for allegedly robbing the 7-Eleven in Marstons Mills Tuesday night.

A 7-Eleven clerk called police at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to report the store had been robbed by an armed and masked man, according to a press release. The clerk told police the robber entered the convenience store wearing a mask and brandishing a large hunting knife. The man threatened to kill the clerk and proceeded to jump over the counter, rip two cash drawers out of the register and flee in a vehicle. Police searched the surrounding area and spotted the vehicle on Race Ln. The alleged robbers crashed into the rotary at the Cape Cod Airport while trying to evade police. South Yarmouth Man Arrested on Heroin Charges in Stolen Vehicle

Barnstable police arrested a South Yarmouth man Wednesday on drug charges after pulling him over for driving a stolen car.

Members of the Barnstable Street Crime Unit were on patrol in Centerville Wednesday afternoon when they spotted a Toyota Prius that was reported as stolen in Harwich February 20, according to a press release. Several marked BPD Patrol Units and other SCU members were called in to help pull over the car on Lumbert Mill Road. The operator was identified as Kevin Robie, 22, of South Yarmouth. Also in the vehicle was a 21-year-old female from West Yarmouth in the front seat and her two-year-old daughter in the back seat.  Police found a “spring loaded” knife and $4850 in cash after searching Robie who is well know to law enforcement. Man Arrested, Charged with OUI in Police Parking Lot

Barnstable police arrested a man for drinking and driving in the parking lot of the police station Friday night.

  Police witnessed Michael Sheehan, 57, of Arlington driving erratically in the police station parking lot on Iyannough Rd. Friday night, according to the Cape Cod Times. A Barnstable officer stopped Sheehan and conducted a sobriety test, which police say Sheehan failed. Sheehan was taken inside the station and charged with OUI and trespassing, he will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday.

Barnstable Police Beef Up Adopt a School Program Following CT School Shooting

A Barnstable Police officer greeted students at all Barnstable Pubic Schools this morning to help reassure parents still on edge following the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Barnstable officers are already present in all of Barnstable schools with the Adopt a School Program that launched last January. As part of the program an officer spends 3-5 hours a week at each school except the High School where there is a full-time school resource officer for grades 8-12.   A Barnstable Police Officer was stationed at each school working with school staff to help monitor drop-off and pick-up today. Police Chief Paul MacDonald said he chose to beef up the Adopt a School program to reassure parents and students.   “Just to put everyone’s mind at ease, when going to school it is important that students and parents feel safe,” MacDonald said.   MacDonald will continue to place officers at all Barnstable schools in the …

Barnstable Police Officers to Carry Torch Today for Special Olympics

Barnstable Police Department members will carry the torch from the Yarmouth town line on 6A to the Sandwich side.

Today members of the Barnstable Police Department will be joining other law enforcement officers from around the Cape to support the Special Olympics.  Officers will be running with the special torch along Rte 6A from the Yarmouth town line to the Sandwich town line. This will take place from about 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. This torch run marks the 30-year anniversary.  According to the Special Olympics website, "In 2008, the Law Enforcement Torch Runs raised $34 million, making it the movement’s largest grass-roots fundraiser and public relations vehicle. Since then, the impact of the Torch Run has only gotten bigger. In 2011, it raised more than $42 million. The Torch Run funds raised are only part of what the police officers give. Above all…
