A passenger boarding a Steamship Authority ferry headed to Martha’s Vineyard from Wood's Hole Sunday night was arrested after claiming he had a bomb in his car.
On Sunday night Krzysztof Malz, 45, of New Britain, CT told Steamship Authority staff he had a bomb in his car during a security screening, according to a press release. Crewmembers immediately contacted Falmouth police. Police responded and interviewed Malz and his passenger. The two claimed the bomb threat was just a joke. Nonetheless, officers with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad searched the vehicle and no bomb was located. Malz was charged with threat concerning the location of dangerous items- explosives and was held without bail.

Memorial Day weekend will see the return of Boston-Cape Cod rail service after more than 20 years, according to an announcement from the Steamship Authority. The new CapeFlyer train, an extension of the MBTA, will make a stop at Buzzards Bay, where Steamship Authority passengers can board a connecting bus to Woods Hole. The final stop is downtown Hyannis, where Hy-Line passengers can catch their boats to the Vineyard (beginning May 4) and Nantucket. According to the website capeflyer.com, the schedule and fares will be posted "soon" for weekend service through Labor Day: "Visitors can expect a train leaving South Station on Friday nights and round-trip trains leaving Saturday and Sunday mornings and returning at the end of each day." …

The M/V Nantucket will be out of service until Friday while necessary repairs are made.
The Steamship Authority will replace the M/V Nantucket with the freight vessel M/V Sankaty beginning this afternoon at 2:45 p.m., according to a press release. Because of the switch there will be limited capacity and amenities on those trips. Also, the 10:45 a.m. Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole trips for Thursday and Friday will not be available for vehicles or walk on passengers. The Steamship Authority advises customers to check its website for updates.

The Steamship Authority cancelled two Hyannis-Nantucket trips today due to mechanical problems.
The following trips have been canceled due to mechanical issues, according the the Steamship Authority: M/V NANTUCKET 9:15AM Hyannis to Nantucket M/V NANTUCKET 12:00PM Nantucket to Hyannis The Steamship Authority hopes to have the problem fixed and the boat running this afternoon.

High winds mean boats are still cancelled through Thursday night at the earliest

Some Steamship Authority and Hy-Line Cruises boats are back on schedule.
The Steamship Authority has received permission from the U.S. Coast Guard to resume its ferry service to and from Martha’s Vineyard. All boats are running between Woods Hole and Vineyard Haven on schedule. A further update for the Nantucket route will be issued as soon as the U.S. Coast Guard has completed an assessment of Hyannis and Nantucket harbors and we have received their permission to resume service. Hyline Cruises' ferry service to Nantucket will resume service at noon Tuesday October 30th.

Cape and Islands could see winds up to 50 mph
The National Weather Center has issued a High Wind Watch for the Cape Cod and the Islands from late tonight through tomorrow evening. There is the potential for strong damaging winds from the west at 25 – 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in Barnstable and the rest of the Cape. Winds will increase through the evening and be strongest during the day on Saturday. A high wind watch means there is the potential for strong, damaging winds that are capable of downing trees and power lines as well as causing property damage. As of now the Steamship Authority has not cancelled any boats. Any new updates on schedule changes or cancellations can be found on the Steamship Authority website.
