The Boston Herald is citing unnamed sources that say President Barack Obama and his family appear to be planning another Martha's Vineyard vacation this year. Any guesses on where they will stay?
We cite our sources: The Boston Herald's "Inside Track" gossip column has reported that President Barack Obama and his family seem poised for a return to Martha's Vineyard. "The buzz on the Rock is that White House advance types have booked accommodations for the Secret Service for two weeks near the end of the summer," write Herald columnists Gayle Fee and Laura Raposa. However, they continue, it's not clear where the First Family will be staying, as the West Tisbury estate they formerly rented has been sold. Perhaps they'll settle for this Aquinnah property, which rents for $25,000 a week in August.

A pair of common dolphins gave nature-watchers some excitement this week, cruising the waters of Chappaquiddick.
A pair of common dolphins was spotted cruising around Chappaquiddick this week, giving nature-lovers a thrill. "Saw these guys swimming around Dike Bridge yesterday morning- Pretty special way to start the day," posted Slip Away Farm on Facebook Friday morning. Chappy Ferry posted, We have seen dolphins in Edgartown Harbor, but only in the summer and early fall. The opening through Norton Point Beach has allowed many exotic fish (even whales) to enter Katama Bay from the Atlantic all year-round. But there is no direct access from Norton Point to Pogue or Poucha ponds. These dolphins must have entered through the gut, swum a good distance around the pond, found the narrow channel down to the Dike Bridge, and then begun to explore Poucha …

It's political season on the Cape and Islands. Presidential candidate Mitt Romney was on Martha's Vineyard today to attend a clambake fundraiser at the Oak Bluffs home of Jim and Kate Sims. Sims is the chairman and founder of Gen3 Partners. Romney is expected to raise nearly $7 million attending events this weekend on the Cape and Islands and Long Island and in Boston. After the Vineyard event, Romney will attend a reception in Osterville at the home of Ruth Ann and Bill Carey, and a second Cape reception at the home of Bridget and Bill Koch before jetting off to Nantucket for a …

Judith Morse, of West Tisbury, and another woman were killed, while another sustained minor injuries in an accident this afternoon on the Kennedy property in Aquinnah
Kennedy properties always get a lot of attention. However, curiosity of three women about the Kennedy's Red Gate Farm estate in Aquinnah, Martha's Vineyard ended in tragedy. Two women were killed, and another injured in a car accident on the property yesterday afternoon. A preliminary investigation by State Police Sgt. Thomas Medeiros into the double motor vehicle fatality on the private property, where a third victim suffered minor injuries, indicates that Judith Morse, 70, of West Tisbury, was backing her 2000 Land Cruiser down a private driveway when she struck a tree. She then attempted to drive forward when the vehicle struck an electrical box, a porch attached to a garage, and then traveled up a hill striking a tree head on. …

Romney would be great for the richest among us. Great for people who supply the war machine. Great if you believe we should always be at war somewhere or other. Great for corporations who want to be free from any regulations that protect our very air and climate. Think!   more ›
