A fire ripped through Swimming Pool and Spa Sales on Enterprise Road Sunday afternoon destroying much of the building that also houses two other businesses.
One employee was working at Swimming Pool and Spa Sales at 12 Enterprise Rd. Sunday when the fire broke out at about 3:58 p.m. The employee called for help and quickly got himself out of harms way. He was taken to Cape Cod Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation after having some trouble breathing. He did not have any other major injuries. Fire crews from the Hyannis, Barnstable, West Barnstable, Yarmouth, and Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills assisted in knocking down the blaze. Once the fire was under control crews noticed a chemical smell and milky water coming from the building and called a state hazmat team in to help. Two suspicious early morning fires in Hyannis are under investigation.
A Barnstable police officer alerted fire officials of a fire at 13 Hiramar Rd. early this morning at around 4, according to the Cape Cod Times. No one was in the duplex at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. Crews from Hyannis, Barnstable, Yarmouth and Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills fire departments knocked down the blaze within the hour. Firefighters were called to another reported fire at 4:30 a.m., this time a car fire at 251 Falmouth Rd. The vehicle fire was put out in just fifteen minutes. While it remains unclear as to whether the fires are connected, fire officials say both fires are suspicious and are investigating the incidents along with the state Fire Marshal’s Office and the Barnstable Police Department.

A fire destroyed a Bourne Public School bus Wednesday afternoon. There were students on the bus at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.
The bus caught fire just before 3 p.m. Wednesday on the Scenic Highway, according to the Cape Cod Times. The driver told fire officials she heard a pop before the fire started. The driver quickly pulled off to the side of the road and helped the students off the bus. Another bus was sent to take the students home.

Multiple fire crews worked together early Sunday morning to put out a fire in an Irving Ave. home.
The fire started early Sunday morning at 70 Irving Ave. in a room above the garage that is attached to the house. According to officials on the scene the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The owners were in the process of making renovations before placing the home on the market. There is no word yet on what caused the blaze.

A fire at a home in Centerville displaced nine individuals and the Cape and Islands chapter of the American Red Cross stepped in to help.
Four children and five adults were displaced after a fire damaged the attic and roof of a home on North Main St. in Centerville Wednesday evening, according to the Cape Cod Times. The Cape and Islands chapter of the American Red Cross is helping some of the residents with temporary housing. Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze, but told the Cape Cod Times it does not appear suspicious.

A fire Monday night in Pocasset injured two residents and burned nearly 25 percent of the home.
Bourne firefighters responded to a fire at 9 Portside Dr. in Pocasset at 4:49 p.m. Monday, according to the Cape Cod Times. The fire started in the living room of the two-bedroom ranch home. One occupant attempted to put the fire out with a garden hose before firefighters arrived at the home. Firefighters noticed flames in the house and that about a quarter of the home was involved. The home also was heavily damaged by smoke. Two occupants were taken to Falmouth Hospital for treatment. The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the blaze.

Banana Boat sunscreen is being recalled after some of the products resulted in users catching fire, reported the Huffington Post. The voluntary recall includes UltraMist Sport, UltraMist Ultra Defense and UltraMist Kids products. There have been five reports of people suffering burns after using the sunscreen in the past year, according to a spokesman of Energizer Holdings, which makes Banana Boat sunscreen. The company notified the FDA of the recall. Consumers can call 1-800-SAFESUN for more information about the recall.
