HyArts Cultural District Celebrated by Local Officals

Town Manager Tom Lynch was joined by Senator Dan Wolf, Representatives Randy Hunt and Cleon Turner, Massachusetts Cultural Council Program Manager Meri Jenkins, and Arts Foundation of Cape Cod Executive Director Kevin Howard.

The HyArts Cultural District and Kennedy Legacy Trail were celebrated during an event Tuesday afternoon.  The HyArts Cultural District was officially named on May 22nd, and the Kennedy Legacy trail debuted in Hyannis on May 29. Since then, the Trail has been enhanced by the addition of two large photos on the Pearl Street side of Sturgis Charter Public High School and by painted white "sails" on the sidewalks leading the way to each stop.  The HyArts Cultural District is the first state designated Cultural District on Cape Cod, and the sixth in the state.

Hyannis One Step Closer to Becoming Designated Cultural District

From the Interim Town Manager's Desk...

Downtown Hyannis is one step closer to becoming a state designated cultural district. An application for the HyArts Cultural District was submitted to the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) last month.  The MCC has internally reviewed our submission and we have been approved for a site visit, which is the next step in the process.   A group from the MCC will be visiting the area and meeting with town officials, district partners and stakeholders on May 1.  Following the visit, the MCC Board of Directors will meet and we should receive word of their decision by the end of May. Information from TOB.
