Police believe a West Yarmouth man is responsible for breaking into a Hyannis pharmacy and stealing 18,000 pills.
Over the past two weeks Barnstable police have been investigating a break-in at the Apothecare Pharmacy on Main St. in Hyannis, according to a press release. The incident occurred February 10 during the blizzard that left many Cape residents and businesses without power. The thieves stole about 18,000 pills including oxycodone and oxycontin worth $500,000. During the investigation police identified Ronald Kimball Jr., 25, of West Yarmouth as a suspect and obtained a search warrant for his home at 9 Rosetta Ln. and for his storage container at the Dennis Mini Storage on Hokum Rock Rd. in Dennis. Barnstable Police are investigating a reported drive-by shooting on Spring Street in Hyannis this afternoon.
HYANNIS - Barnstable Police were called to 40 Spring Street in Hyannis just after 1:00 p.m. Friday on a report of a drive-by shooting. According to police, a woman inside the home called 911 to report the incident. No injuries were reported. The scene on Spring Street was taped off and numerous police responded to the call. Curious neighbors gathered in the street down the block. The address 40 Spring Street has been referenced in the Barnstable police log six times this year, most recently on Monday October 22nd when police responded to a reported larceny at the home. Barnstable Police arrested a 38-year-old Mashpee man and his girlfriend for two bank robberies in Barnstable. Police believe an 11-month-old was with the couple at the time of the incidents.
Thursday afternoon members of the Barnstable Police Department responded to a reported bank robbery at the Eastern Bank on Route 28 in Marstons Mills. According to a BPD press release, a white male entered the bank and handed a teller a note saying he was robbing the bank. The man then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. During an investigation of Thursday afternoon’s robbery, Barnstable Police Detective Valerie Hemmila found evidence linking 38-year-old Gerard T. Langley of Mashpee to the recent Bank of America robbery in Hyannis. Within hours detectives located Langley driving on Cotuit Road in Mashpee. At approximately 2:30 p.m. Gerard T. Barnstable Police are searching for the man who robbed the Bank of America at 291 Barnstable Road at around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Barnstable Police Sgt. Sean Sweeney says they are looking for a white male that was wearing a dark blue or black Boston Red Sox hat, a dark blue sweatshirt with grey sleeves, blue jeans, and white sneakers. Sweeney said it is not yet known if the robber presented a weapon or was given cash. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was chased for a distance by a K-9 unit.

I'm glad he was caught as I know the owner of this establishment and have lived in this area for many decades, but I don't see how many lives were saved by catching him. People are not dying left and right from taking oxy's, they are dying from prescriptions written out by their own doctors. Far more people are dying from drug interactions caused by their own doctors than people who take oxy's on…   more ›
