Barnstable police arrested two men for allegedly robbing the 7-Eleven in Marstons Mills Tuesday night.
A 7-Eleven clerk called police at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to report the store had been robbed by an armed and masked man, according to a press release. The clerk told police the robber entered the convenience store wearing a mask and brandishing a large hunting knife. The man threatened to kill the clerk and proceeded to jump over the counter, rip two cash drawers out of the register and flee in a vehicle. Police searched the surrounding area and spotted the vehicle on Race Ln. The alleged robbers crashed into the rotary at the Cape Cod Airport while trying to evade police. A white male carrying a large knife robbed the 7-Eleven in Osterville early this morning.
Police are searching for the robber who was wearing a ski mask and carrying a 10-inch knife, according to the Cape Cod Times. The robber entered the store at 12:30 a.m. and demanded a $100 bill from the clerk on duty. When that request was unsuccessful the robber went behind the counter and cleaned out the cash register. Police searched the area with the help of a Yarmouth K-9 unit to no avail. The incident is under investigation and police are reviewing surveillance tapes.
A car crashed into the 7-Eleven in Centerville Tuesday afternoon, damaging the front of the store.
According to Barnstable police the crash occurred when the driver mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake while parking in front of the store at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday. The car struck a large cement trashcan then pushed it through a front window. The car then turned to avoid further damage and scraped the front of the building until crashing into another vehicle parked in the lot. No injuries were reported and the damage to the store was minor. The accident is under investigation.
