Pope John Paul II High School proudly serves as Cape Cod's only Catholic secondary education facility.

ItsMore mission is to provide the youth of Cape Cod with a strong college preparatory education emphasizing academics, spirituality and citizenship.

The school is implementing an aggressive program to introduce a full schedule of sports activities. Current programs are in football, cross country and basketball.

School activities include drama, music ministry, literary magazine, yearbook, student council and student ambassadors.

The mission of Sturgis Charter Public School reads that it is "dedicated to an "International Baccalaureate (IB)More for All" philosophy, preparing high school students for higher education in a supportive learning environment. Sturgis provides each student a rigorous world-class educational program, encouraging academic achievement, intellectual confidence, and personal growth."

Sturgis offers students what they see as an intellectually rigorous education in the traditional liberal arts and sciences. In addition to traditional extracurricular activities such as sports and clubs, Sturgis encourages their students to expand their horizons through community service and travel. Located in downtown Hyannis, Sturgis also offers a unique experience to their students by allowing them to leave campus for lunch to frequent the local businesses or relax on the Village Green.

Joyfully Learning is a tutoring and educational enrichment organization based in Barnstable. Programming is offered forMore middle school, high school and home-schooled students. Barnstable High School

In 1879, Barnstable High School moved back to Hyannis for good. Additional wings were added in 1963 andMore 1976, and in 1998 the addition of a professional class performing arts venue and new wing were added. Since then, the school continues to improve its grounds and has added a phenomenal Astro Park and astronomy observatory in what was once called the Quad. 

Beyond physical improvements to its grounds, it boasts a top-notch TV production studio used to film Barnstable Today and local public broadcasting, notable arts offerings and a full range of academic and athletic programs.

In the fall of 2010, the track and football field were renovated.  

The school serves grades eight through 12. However, there are several programs and services available to town residents and students after school hours and during the summer including movie nights in the astro park.


Hyannis Fire Department

Hyannis Fire Department, founded in 1896, is the oldest in the Town of Barnstable. Like the rest of the departments,More it's run with a selectman style governance separate from the town municipality. Hyannis serves residents living within 8.9 square miles village. It is the busiest of the fire departments, which is not surprising considering it serves the most densely populated area in town.

Like its counterparts, it provides many of the same services including provides response to spills, leaks, electrical problems and down wires, rescue services and accident response, well being checks, lockouts, lock ins and educational programming plus its firefighting duties. 

The Hyannis Fire Department also provides water and ice rescue. 

In addition to these services, it puts on a yearly doc-u-drama for high school students to raise awareness about drunk driving and sponsors a kids day with the other four fire districts and the Barnstable police.
