Monday Essentials: Music for All, Local Author Speaks

Here are five essentials things to know in the town of Barnstable this week.

1. The Planning Board will meet in the Hearing Room at Town Hall on Monday night. The meeting will begin at 7.

2. Author Terri Arthur will discuss her book "Fatal Decision: Edith Cavell, World War I Nurse," at the Hyannis Public Library on Tuesday, August 27 at 6:30 p. m. This event is free and open to the public.

3. The Barnstable Town Band will perform at the Hyannis Village Green on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.

4. Cape Codder Resort & Spa, 1125 Iyannough Rd, Hyannis, will continue its Kids Theater series Wednesday at 7 p.m. This week will be a guitar sing-a-long called Music Coaster with Pete Rebell.

5. Receive a student's perspective on Japan from Emily Quinn, a high school senior from Mills, who studied abroad in Japan. Emily will share her experience on Friday at the Marstons Mills Public Library at 6 p.m.
