5 Free Things to do in Barnstable Today

1. Tour the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory in Hyannis and learn how the famous chips are made. Tours are free and self-guided. The factory is open for tours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

2.  Try out a "vacation in a pint" with a free tour of Cape Cod's Hyannis-based brewery, Cape Cod Beer. The company hosts one tour a day at 11 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Plus--free beer tastings!  

3. Take a ride on the Hyannis-Area Trolley and explore the area for free, provided by the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority. The trolley runs from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Sept. 3. and travels from Main Street down Sea Street, Ocean Street and the Ocean Street Docks.

4. Go window shopping on Main Street Hyannis and enjoy a variety of street-performers, sights and people.

5. Brush up on history and pay your respects to Korean War veterans and John F. Kennedy at the Veterans Memorial Parklocated just a short drive from Main Street shops. The park also has a playground, beach and picnic tables.
