Barnstable will be in Division 2 South, which is regarded as one, if not the best in the state, with powerhouses like Duxbury, Mansfield, Marshfield, Natick, Needham and Wellesley all competing for the playoff spots.

Braintree, Durfee, King Philip, Quincy and Taunton are also in the division.

Barnstable has seven games scheduled before the playoffs, which will start following week seven at the beginning of November.

Barnstable will either compete in the playoffs or have games scheduled against non-playoff opponents in November. The team will still be playing at Falmouth on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m., but that game won't factor into the playoffs.

The schedule, according to a report in the Boston Herald, will have Barnstable on the road for the first two weeks of the season, traveling to Dennis-Yarmouth on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., and at BC High on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. The other away games will be at New Bedford on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. and at Bridgewater-Raynham on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

The home opener will be Friday, Sept. 27 against Xaverian at 6 p.m. The other home games will be Oct. 11 against Marshfield at 6 p.m. and on Oct. 25 against Dartmouth at 6 p.m.
