Heartbreaking Loss for BHS Red Raiders Football in State Championship

Barnstable comes up short in close loss to Everett in Division 1A MIAA State Title Game.

In a game filled with ample interceptions, turnovers, missed catches, and personal fouls by both teams, the Barnstable Red Raider's hopes for a state championship were dashed by the Everett Crimson Tide on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Statium. The final score of the game was 20 to 19, with Everett taking home the Division 1A MIAA Superbowl win.

The game started with Everett capitalizing on an interception early in the 1st quarter. At the half time, Everett lead Barnstable 13 to 7. Everett expanded their lead to 20 to 7 in the 3rd quarter. Barnstable scored back to back touchdowns in the 4th and drove down the field with seconds left in the game, but was unable to get to the end zone.

Following the game, Red Raider fans took to Facebook and blamed the referees for bias and bad calls. The Red Raiders end their season with a 11 and 1 record.
