D-Y Dolphins Headed To Gillette

The Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins will visit Gillette Stadium for the Division 4 Super Bowl after defeating the Bedford High Buccaneers, 21-14, in the MIAA Div. 4 South Sectional Championship Saturday at Marciano Stadium in Brockton.

A determined, well-coached, well-oiled machine.

That's what the Dennis-Yarmouth Dolphins (9-2) looked like Saturday afternoon at Marciano Stadium in Brockton in the MIAA Division 4 South Sectional Championship, as the Green & White downed the Bedford High (9-2) Buccaneers, 21-14.

While Bedford scored first and looked impressive at the outset, keeping faith with its touted defensive unit, the D-Y Dolphins made Cape Cod proud by rattling off an impressive 21 straight points to finish out the first half. The Dolphins' defense proved to be equally impressive down the homestretch, stopping the vaunted Buccaneers' time and again.

Defensive standouts for the Dolphins - who are headed to Gillette Stadium for the first time in school history and for the program's second Super Bowl visit in three years - included linebacker Chip Evangelista, senior captain Casey Allen, L.K. Metz and Liam Matheson.

On he offensive side of the ball, Mike Dunn, Mike Anderson, sophomore Andrew Jamiel, senior captain and quarterback Spencer Tyler, Corey DeSimone and Metz all looked impressive. DeSimone also played exceptionally well on the defensive side of the ball.

DeSimone, Tyler and Dunn each scored for the Green & White, with Dunn placing the icing on the cake near the end of the second quarter with a brilliant catch on a Tyler pass for a 55-yard score.
