Town to Hold Affordable Housing 'Lottery' in Centerville

Looking for affordable housing in Barnstable? With a bit of luck, you just might get it.

The town of Barnstable is offering twelve apartment units to low- and moderate-income families through a lottery selection system, according to a town press release. Officials will explain the lottery system in upcoming town meetings.

There are six one-bedroom units six two-bedroom units available in the Stage Coach Residences complex located in Centerville. Six of these units are designated for households with income at or below 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI) as published annually.

The two-bedroom units cost $939 a month and the one-bedroom's rent is $796. Utilities are not included.

Applications are now available online or on the third floor of town hall at the Growth Management Department. Applications must be mailed to the Housing Assistance Corporation at 460 W. Main St. Hyannis, Mass. 02601.

To learn more about the lottery process, town officials will hold public meetings at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at town hall.
