Town Council Approves Historic Barnstable Village Cultural District

Barnstable Town Council passed a resolution to create a cultural district in Historic Barnstable Village.

The Town of Barnstable is in the final steps of creating the Historic Barnstable Village Cultural District.

Last week, Town Council approved a resolution to establish and create the cultural district, according to Town Manager Thomas K. Lynch's weekly newsletter.

"This new designation will provide even more opportunities to support and promote the creative economy, including the collaborations we have with the cultural offerings in all of our villages," wrote Lynch.

Barnstable Village will host a meeting and site visit with representatives from the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). The MCC will then review the application at their next board meeting and make a decision.

If approved, Barnstable Village will join HyArts Cultural District as the second state-designated cultural district in the town.

"Knitting together all of our town's cultural gems with two state designated cultural districts highlights Barnstable as a year round arts and culture destination," continued Lynch.
