Town Council Approves Grant to Train 911 Dispatchers, New Fees

Happenings in town council shared by Acting Town Manager Tom Lynch.

On Thursday the Town Council approved an ordinance on parking fines and miscellaneous licenses and permits.

Several grants were accepted including an $111,000 grant to certify 911 operators under the new Emergency Medical Dispatch program. Under state law, effective July 1st, 2012 all 911 telecomunicators must be certified emergency medical dispatchers.

The Council also approved a non-binding resolution continuing NSTAR's No Spray, Pesticide-Free policy of vegetation in Barnstable and on Cape Cod. Offered by Councilors Daley, Dagwan and Barton this measure passed unanimously.

The meeting schedule for 2012 was adopted with meetings to be held the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month with only one meeting scheduled for July and August.
