Public Hearing Set for Discussion on Barnstable's Community Development Block Grant Program

Barnstable's Growth Management Department will hold a public hearing next month in an effort to obtain public input regarding the draft Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) for 2012, officials announced this week.

CAPER serves as an annual report, outlining the year's accomplishment's for Barnstable's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

The most recent report covers July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. During that period, the town received $274,499 in CDBG funds to carry out the goals and objectives detailed in the consolidated plan and action plan, according to Barnstable officials.

The public hearing for public comment has been set for Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m. in the Selectmen's Conference Room at Town Hall. 

The draft report will be available for review and public comments starting on Friday, Sept. 6 on the town's website, as well as in the GMD office at 367 Main St. in Hyannis. Those who visit the office to review the report will be able to do so  between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday starting on that date.

The period for public input will begin Sept. 6 and end on Sept. 23. Residents unable to attend the public hearing on Aug. 14 can submit written comments to the GMD office at the following address:
