Massachusetts State Police recovered a body of a 41-year-old Wareham man from the Cape Cod Canal.

A witness came to the State Police Barracks in Bourne to report that a man was scaling the fence on the Bourne Bridge. As a dispatcher began sending patrols to the bridge, callers to the barracks reported that a man had just jumped from the bridge. A subsequent investigation by State Police located his vehicle near the bottom of the bridge, police said.

Preliminary investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police along with the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section suggest his death was a suicide, police said.
