Reports from the scene say one adult leaped to safety from a building fire in Hyannis Saturday evening while a mother and her two children were lowered from a second-floor window.

Fire officials told the Cape Cod Times that all residents were safely evacuated from the two-story apartment building at 174 Main St. in Hyannis.

The fire broke out shortly before 5 p.m. and several fire engines responded to the scene. A second alarm was struck around 5:15 p.m. as the structure involved with heavy flames.

According to reports, the bulk of the fire was knocked down shortly before 6 p.m.

The Cape Cod Times initially reported a fire official at the scene said it was unclear whether there were any injuries, although EMTs were seen carrying a gurney toward the building.
