Two Barnstable Men Arrested on Drug Charges

Two men are facing drug charges after a two-month undercover investigation by the Barnstable Police Department Narcotics Unit.

Barnstable police obtained a warrant to search a Hyannis hotel room and Cadillac Escalade after making a series of undercover cocaine purchases, according to a press release.

Police executed the search warrant Friday afternoon and seized about 70 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, packaging material and about $2,500 in cash. 70 grams of cocaine has a street value of $10,000.

Police arrested Rafael Perez, 29, of Hyannis and charged him with trafficking cocaine.  Police then searched Perez’s West Main St. apartment and seized another $7,200 in cash.

Police also arrested Christopher Scott, 36, of Centerville for allegedly attempting to purchase $200 worth of cocaine. Scott was charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws. Scott had two outstanding warrants for his arrest on various motor vehicle charges.

Perez and Scott will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court Monday.
