State Police to Hold Sobriety Checkpoint in Barnstable County

The checkpoint will be implemented Saturday into Sunday.

Massachusetts State Police will implement a sobriety checkpoint on a public way in Barnstable County this weekend. 

The checkpoint will be in effect from Saturday, July 13 to Sunday, July 14. 

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," Col. Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced Monday.

The announcement did not specify which public way on which the the checkpoint would be implemented.
