Police Arrest Hyannis Man in Connection to Rash of Break-ins

A Hyannis man was charged with breaking and entering in several homes and stealing jewelry.

, with more expected as the investigation continues, police said.

On Monday the investigation into a rash of break-ins during the last three months lead police to Michael Duffy of 800 Bearse's Way, Hyannis. 

Police said the majority of break-ins were jewelry thefts committed during the day.

In the last week, Barnstable Police Detectives conducted surveillance of Duffy, who was identified by a homeowner during a break-in, in connection to the break-ins, police said.

Police arrested Duffy for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession of a class B substance (oxycodone). During a subsequent investigation for this arrest, police charged Duffy with four counts of breaking and entering in the daytime/felony, two counts of attempted breaking and entering, five counts of destruction of property, and two counts of larceny in a building, according to police.

The investigation continues and more charges are expected to be filed, said the Barnstable Police.
