Mashpee Man Indicted for Videotaping Tanning Salon Customers

The co-owner of Sunsational Tanning in Hyannis was arrested in February for allegedly videotaping unsuspecting women.

A Mashpee man, who co-owned a Hyannis tanning salon, appeared before a grand jury in Barnstable last week for allegedly peeping on nude women at the salon.

Luis Carlos Macedo, 48, of Mashpee, was indicted on 22 counts of videotaping customers at Sunsational Tanning in Hyannis.

Macedo was charged with 20 counts of photographing an unsuspecting nude person and two counts of posing/exhibiting a child in a lewd and lascivious fashion, according to capecodonline.com.

Macedo was arrested in February after a 29-year-old woman spotted what she believed was a camera hidden in the floor of a tanning booth. Barnstable Police set up surveillance outside Sunsational Tanning where they witnessed an employee in his late forties set up a cell phone camera in a changing room.

At the time of his arrest, Macedo admitted to videotaping females at the salon. Police found 21 videos and a peephole that was concealed by an advertisement.
