Man Arrested for Intoxication, Vandalizing Building With Ketchup
A drunken, "disorderly" man who allegedly vandalized the British Beer Company with ketchup was arrested July 7 around 1 a.m., according to a Barnstable Police Department press release.
Police charged James T. Madden, 20, of Limerick, Ireland, with charges of disorderly conduct and injury to real/personal property, a second count of injury to real/personal property and larceny less than $250.
According to the press release, police were making rounds as bars closed around 1 a.m. on Sunday on Hyannis Main Street when they observed Madden "being loud and disorderly" in front of the British Beer Company.
Madden sprayed a liquid in a plastic bottle on the sidewalks and the exterior of the building, police said. That substance was later found to be ketchup.
"Found in his possession was a brass coat hook from the BBC" which he allegedly ripped off the wall, the press release stated.
Police said the ketchup bottle was BBC property, as well.
Madden was arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on July 8 and was released for a future court date.
