Lady Martha Cancels Trips After Taking on Water

The Lady Martha, a Hy-Line Cruises ferry, took on water Tuesday in Hyannis Harbor. Services have been cancelled Tuesday and Wednesday as a result.

High-speed ferry trips on the Lady Martha were canceled Tuesday and Wednesday after the boat began taking on water in Hyannis Harbor, according to CapeCodtoday.com.

A seal gave way and the vessel began taking on water, but the boat was safely evacuated by Barnstable police and Hyannis firefighters, according to the report.

Hy-Line Cruises, which operates the boat, tweeted that the incident caused cancellation Tuesday with the following: "#ALERT 8/13/13 TUE & WED 8/14/13: High speed service between Hyannis/Martha's Vineyard is cxl. Also no inter-island Tue or Wed."
