Have You Registered Your House Alarm with Barnstable PD?

Did you know you are required to register your house or business alarm with the Barnstable Police Department?

Luckily, the process is simple. Film out the registration form online or pick one up in person at the police station on Phinney's Lane.

Basic information like address, alarm company and emergency contacts are needed. Police also ask for townspeople to provide specific instructions on locating their devices if they are hard to find.

Registered alarm users are guaranteed at least two officer responders within 25 miles who can provide access to the home or business, deactivate a false alarm or provide alternative security for the area.

Registration costs $25, and there is also a $25 renewal fee. False alarms carry a $300 fee.

If you are just now purchasing an alarm, make sure it meets the police department's regulations.
