Elderly Woman Crashes Into Storefront

88-year-old driver reportedly stepped on gas instead of brakes, crashing through the front of a T-Mobile store. Nobody was inside at the time.

An 88-year-old woman reportedly drove into a T-Mobile store in Hyannis on Saturday afternoon at the Cape Town Plaza.

A report from WHDH-TV notes that the store’s front windows and door were destroyed, but nobody was in the business. The driver was transported to an area hospital with a reported head injury.

Elsewhere, the Cape Cod Times quotes police as reporting that the driver apparently stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes, taking her at over a curb and into the storefront. The report also noted that the woman was apparently not suffering from any medical conditions that would have contributed to the accident.
