Barnstable Street Crime Unit Stops Wanted New Bedford Man

A man with 12 outstanding warrants was arrested in Barnstable.

A 29-year-old New Bedford man was arrested in Barnstable late last week after a minor traffic stop when check of his name revealed he was wanted on 12 warrants in southeastern Massachusetts.

Michael Silva initially gave Barnstable Street Crime Unit members Mashpee Officer Michael Assad and Deputy Kim Saladino a false name after the motor vehicle stop.

Once his true name was discovered, 12 outstanding warrants were found for offenses like shoplifting, assault and battery, larceny, and identity fraud, according to Barnstable Police.
