Barnstable Street Crime Unit Busts Heroin Deal

Three people were arrested on drug charges by the Barnstable Street Crime Unit.

A Yarmouth man and two Dennis residents were arrested for attempting to make a heroin deal in a 7Eleven parking lot Yarmouth.

Barnstable Street Crime Unit members witnessed John M. Benevides, 31, sell heroin to Dawn Sears, 37, and Adam H. Coleman, 42, according to the Barnstable Police Department.

Benevides allegedly sold the two Dennis residents three bags of heroin for $95. He was arrested with seven grams of heroin and $276 in cash. Sears and Coleman were in possession of hypodermic needles.

All three were charged with conspiracy to violate the drug law.

Benevides has an additional charge of possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance and a default warrant for a probation violation on a 2009 breaking and entering charge.
