Barnstable Police Nab Wanted Man After Chase

WHDH is reporting that a Mashpee man was arrested after a chase Friday night.

A wanted Mashpee man was nabbed by Barnstable police Friday night after a lengthy foot-chase, WHDH Boston is reporting.

John Lopes, 26, was arrested for reportedly having six outstanding warrants, including arrests for trafficking cocaine and assault and battery on a police officer, according to the WHDH post.

After receiving word that Lopes was spotted near Center Street, police attempted to stop the vehicle he was traveling in and he reportedly fled the traffic stop into a residential neighborhood.

A two-and-a-half-hour chase through the neighborhood ended when a Yarmouth K9 unit found him hiding in some bushes, according to WHDH.

Lopes is expected to be arraigned in Barnstable District Court this morning.
