Acushnet Police Station - One million over budget - You be the judge.  

1.) In early December of 2012 the Town of Acushnet, Massachusetts approved 5.2 million dollars for a brand new police station.  

2.)  In early December of 2013 the following year the Town of Acushnet, Massachusetts received $ 154,225.00. That's one hundred and fifty four thousand dollars to become a Massachusetts Green Communities Designations Reach Community.  

3.) In February of 2014 the Acushnet Police Department project came in one million over the estimate.  

Today the Town of Acushnet , Massachusetts is investigating why the bid increased over one million dollars....  

Folks do they really need an investigation or was signing the GREEN COMMUNITY DESIGNATIONS REACH a fatal mistake for the taxpayers.

"ACUSHNET — Police Chief Michael Alves and his department received an early Christmas present Monday night, and it wasn't a stocking stuffer.

Voters throughout a rainy day trekked to the polls and approved a $5.2 million request to finance a new police station construction project at 60 Middle Road. The capital debt-exclusion request to override Proposition 2½ prevailed in each of three precincts for a 536-451 outcome.

Police station bids $1 million more than expected

"ACUSHNET — It will be back to the drawing board for Acushnet as far as getting bids for the new police station.

Town Administrator Alan Coutinho said Monday the bids from general contractors were opened and came in an average of $1 million more than budgeted."
