Cape Wind Using Antique Wind Turbines

Antique Wind Turbines
How and Why is the  Cape Wind project is using antique 2009 gear box driven 3.6 megawatt commercial wind turbines ? Today ocean wind contractors use direct drive type wind turbines because of the high rate of failures in gear box driven turbines .Since 2009 the price of copper has doubled making the underwater electric grid cable costs also double. The price of the project in 2009 was 2.6 Billion in 2014 it will cost 4 Billion ? http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20131224/NEWS/312240322

Cape Wind is using fuzzy math to build the project. The original project called for 130 commercial wind turbines. The electric grid actually costs more than the wind turbines themselves. Cape Wind is only installing 109 commercial wind turbines at 2.6 billion. The other 21 turbines bring the price up well over the 4 billion mark possible near 5 billion by 2016. This leaves an issue of the electric cables to the other 21 commercial wind turbines at a later date . The project was approved at 130 commercial wind turbines at 3.6 megawatts each so how can an approved project go forward with only 109 wind turbines ? Why not start the project and get approval for 1 turbine and out the other 129 turbines in later?

Cape Wind- The "belt and suspenders" project. Why go to the extra expense to place them in the water? Why not make use of the more reliable source of energy directly- Our tides and currents?

I wonder if the "Danish pension Fund "that is providing that lase blast of financing so needed is related to a company that needs to sell off some turbines or go bust? Maybe it is a last ditch quick buck turnover sort of deal. The mere mention of Danish Pension brings Vestas to mind... And it is pretty well known that Vestas is in trouble financially. Maybe this is an elaborate close out sale of sorts. What a tangled web at any rate!
