Hyannis Elks Lodge Provides Thanksgiving Meal to Veterans

Sixty local veterans received meal baskets from Hyannis Elks Lodge 1549.

For Thanksgiving, members of the Hyannis Elks Lodge 1549, provided food baskets for the full holiday meal to 60 veterans.

The Elks have donated turkeys to veterans in the past, but need has prompted the organization to collect enough food for the entire Thanksgiving meal. Each basket contained turkeys, fresh potatoes from J&E Fruit and Produce, stuffing, gravy, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls and a pie.

The program was made possible by a Elks National Foundation Freedom grant and donations from the Market Basket, Centerville Pie and Casual Gourmet.

"It was wonderful to meet all of our veterans, and know that they would have a great Thanksgiving meal this year," said Jeff Deitke, Veterans Chairperson at the Hyannis Elks.
