On Exhibit at the Osterville Village Library

OSTERVILLE VILLAGE LIBRARY PRESENTS: The Photographic Works of Michael and Suz Karchmer on exhibit during the month of February 2014.

The Osterville Village Library is delighted to show a selection of the photographic works of Michael and Suz Karchmer! The exhibit will be on display at the Osterville Village Library, 43 Wianno Ave, Osterville, in the hallway leading to the Carolyn Crossett Rowland Fireside Room during the month of February 2014.

Michael and Suz Karchmer are Cape Cod-based photographers who work together as KarchmerPHOTO. Now residing in Harwich, Suz and Michael lived for many years in the Washington, DC, area. Michael had a 30-year career at Gallaudet University, the liberal arts university for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Washington, DC., serving variously as the graduate dean, the director of the research institute, and a professor before moving to the Cape. He has long been interested in photography. Susan's photographic interests are informed by her background that includes floral design, sign language interpreting, and a long-time involvement in the arts.

Both Michael and Suz are actively involved in the Cape Cod community. Michael has been president of Nauset Newcomers and now serves as president of the Cape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club. Suz is on the board of WE CAN, the not-for-profit agency designed to assist women on the Cape. They also have worked with Cape Cod Volunteers.

Michael and Suz are in their third year as company photographers for the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater; their theater photographs regularly find their way into such publications as the Boston Globe and Cape Cod Times. Michael and Suz are members of iPhone 9, a group of Cape artists involved with using their iPhones and iPads for photographic purposes. Both also work on a free lance basis for Rabideau Media Group, which publishes Cape Cod Magazine and Chatham Magazine.

The work of award winning artist and illustrator Nancy Minnigerode will continue to be on display in the hallway leading to the Caroline Rowland Fireside Room through the end of January.
