On Sunday afternoon, November 3rd, The Current Quarterly,
Cape Cod's first and only fashion magazine, will host a fall fashion
show at The Hyannis Youth and Community Center to raise money for the Shea's Youth Basketball Association. The show will feature styles from local boutiques across Cape Cod, modeled by mentors and their students from the Mentor Network.
The
Current Quarterly puts on a fashion show with every issue to highlight
the best fashions from local shops, as well as raise money for various
local nonprofits. "It seemed so appropriate to put on a fundraiser for
Shea's on the HYCC basketball court where their kids play. And when the
Mentor Network volunteered to provide the models, all the pieces came
together" says The Current Quarterly editor, Amanda Converse.
Shea's
YBA is a youth development program that utilizes volunteers to provide
free programs including basketball leagues, tutoring services, and
community outreach projects that educate participants on the importance
of camaraderie, responsibility, teamwork, sacrifice, and respect for
others. It was founded by Jonah Shea who is quadriplegic, and wanted to make a contribution to the kids i this community.
The event will start at 12pm, and will kick off with the sounds of London DJ, DJ Sinnetti. Salon 700 & Day Spa will be doing hair and makeup for the models. Tax deductible tickets to the fashion show are $20 for adults and $10 for teens.
Boutiques
from all across the Cape are involved in the fashion show. They include
Shift Eco Boutique, Shine, Sass on Main, TK Perry, The Picket Fence,
Oz, Weekend, Ports & Co., Artichoke, Green Eyed Daisy, Shawl and
Chatham T. Co.
