Boating Theme Week - Knots:  A journey in applied math
During the summer of 2014, Cape Cod Maritime Museum will be offering maritime science and art (“STEAM”) based classes for youth and adults. There are two week long themes throughout the summer. The classes can be taken as the week long seminar at $190, an individual class for $45 or the activity with each class at 10am for the cost of $15. The full class is offered from 9:30am—12:30pm and they are for ages 7 and older.
Rope (line) used in boating is durable and expensive and is often handling heavy loads, e.g.,when berthing, mooring, towing another vessel, preparing for a storm, or managing sails. The emphasis, therefore, is on safety, reliability, and convenience.  Come learn about different knots, try tying them and choose which you would use for different applications.
