Students Mourn Barnstable Teen’s Death

The Barnstable High School community is mourning the loss of 15-year-old Anthony Beverly who died this week from flu complications.

Beverly came down with the flu in February and was initially treated at Cape Cod Hospital, according to the Cape Cod Times.

During the illness, Beverly contracted pneumonia and was eventually taken to Boston Children’s Hospital as the illness became more serious.

Beverly passed away this week from the flu complications and word quickly spread throughout Barnstable High School.

Students are donning red and black today, Beverly’s favorite colors, to honor their friend.

Dr. Mary Czajkowski told the Cape Cod Times that counselors will be available to students.

I did not know him, but that story really broke my heart, particularly as a parent of 2 BHS students.
