State Divers Find Sunken Cape Cod Scalloping Boat

State divers located the scalloping boat Twin Lights two miles north of Race Point Monday. Divers were still unable to locate a missing crew member.

The Twin Lights, a scalloping boat, sank Sunday morning after it became tangled in fishing gear. Rescuers aboard two Coast Guard vessels, along with state police divers and a helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod searched for and rescued one crew member, but were unable to locate a second.

Officials don’t know for sure if the boat’s owner Jean Frottier was still on board the boat when it sank, but he is presumed dead, according to the Cape Cod Times.

No word yet on whether the boat will be salvaged or left in place. The Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Office will investigate the accident.
