Cape Cod Chamber CEO elected to American Chamber of Commerce Executives board

Wendy K. Northcross, CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). Northcross officially began her three-year term at the ACCE Annual Convention on July 24 in Oklahoma City.

"It is my privilege and honor to be elected by my peers to serve on the board of ACCE,” said Northcross. “The organization has tremendous momentum as it enters its 100th year. I look forward to continuing the energy as we help advance the value that business brings to growing strong communities across the country."

As CEO of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Northcross leads an organization representing 1,333 member businesses. During her tenure at the Cape Cod Chamber, Northcross has led a highly engaged board of directors to develop a strategic plan for the organization and for the betterment of Cape Cod.  The Chamber’s strategic plan includes improving transportation infrastructure, increasing tourism marketing revenue, helping new businesses launch and existing businesses grow and protecting the Cape’s fragile ecology.

Northcross is also marking 25 years in the Chamber profession, and as such is heavily involved in regional business and policy issues. She was a founding partner of the SmarterCape Partnership, and is a board member of the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the Workforce Investment Board, JTEC and is co-founder of the JFK Hyannis Museum and sits on the museum foundation board.  She is also past trustee chair of the Cape Cod Community College, past president of the Mass. Association of Chamber Executives and is finishing her one-year term as president of the New England Chamber of Commerce Executives. Northcross was recognized as the New England Chamber Executive of the Year (2003) and was honored with Cape Cod Community College’s Pioneering Woman award in 2001.

Established in 1914, the American Chamber of Commerce Executives is the only national association serving the professional development needs of chamber professionals throughout the United States and Canada. Representing more than 7,000 individuals, ACCE enhances the knowledge, leadership skills, and management effectiveness of chamber executives and their staff through education, benefits programs, trend analysis, benchmarking, and network development. The Cape Cod Chamber was established in 1922 and represents all of Barnstable County.  The Chamber works to strengthen, support and promote the economic viability, environmental sensitivity, cultural richness and social needs of Cape Cod.
