Barnstable Ranked Among Best Places for Business, Careers

Barnstable ranked 80th on the list of 200 communities throughout the country.

Forbes magazine has listed Barnstable among the best small places for business and careers, according to an annual ranking released last week

For the 15th annual ranking, Forbes looked at the 200 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the country, according to the report's methodology. The communities ranged in size from 11.8 million people to smaller communities of approximately 250,000 people.

Barnstable ranked 80th on the list, and was also ranked 13th for education, 95th for job growth and 183rd for cost of business.

Pittsfield was the only other Massachusetts community to be ranked, coming in at 115th.

This is the second time this summer Barnstable has been ranked among such a list. In July, the town was ranked among the best areas for healthcare social workers by the data website ValuePenguin.
