Hyannis Harbor Art Shanties Open for Summer Season

You can stroll and shop along Hyannis Harbor and check out works by Cape Cod artists.

This year more than 51 local artists will sell their wares at Bismore Park on Ocean St. along Hyannis Harbor.

Artwork will vary throughout the summer but will include jewelry, paintings, ceramics and even authors from the Cape Cod Writer’s Center.

Starting in July the shanties will also have free activities for families on Thursday afternoons and music on Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons or early evenings.

Arts and Culture Coordinator for the Town of Barnstable Melissa Hersh said thousands of visitors pass through the area every summer.

“The seven colorful seaside studios provide an opportunity for the artists and artisans to share their many talents with a wide variety of visitors from around the region, country and world. Not only are visitors spending time with the artists, but also at surrounding museums, shops and restaurants,” Hersh said.

The shanties will be open Friday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in May and June and seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. starting Friday June 28.
