Wings of Freedom Tour in Barnstable: B-17G Flying Fortress
The B-17G Flying Fortress is one of three World War II aircraft that visited Barnstable last week.
The Collings Foundation's 24th season of the Wings of Freedom Tour stopped at the Barnstable Municipal Airport this week. Three restored aircraft will be on display Wednesday, Sept. 25, through Friday, Sept 27.
The planes that visited Barnstable include the B-24J Liberator, the P-51C Mustang and the B-17G Flying Fortress.
Visitors were given a chance to enter the planes and even take a flight after the tours.
The Collings Foundation Flying Fortress that landed in Barnstable is one of only 10 B-17s still flying in the United States.
