Two September 11 Remembrances to be Held in Barnstable

The Hyannis Fire Department and St. Mary's Church will mark the 12th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

A pair of remembrances of the September 11, 2001 terrorists attacks will be held in town on the 12th anniversary.

The Hyannis Fire Department, 95 High School Road, will hold the first observance at 10 a.m. A solemn service is planned, according to Town Manager Thomas K. Lynch.

The second remembrance will be hosted by Barnstable Police Department, Barnstable Fire Department and St. Mary’s Church. The event will start at the Barnstable Fire Department in Barnstable Village at 4 p.m.

The Air National Guard Honor Guard will lead a procession down Route 6A to St. Mary's Church.

At 4:30, a service will be held at the church. American Airlines flight attendant Donna Bartlett of Centerville, who rode the shuttle bus to Logan that day with the ill-fated flight crew, and American Airlines Flight attendant Jana Stein from Sandwich will be the featured speakers.
