Habitat for Humanity Seeks Volunteers For Centerville Home

Habitat for Humanity Cape Cod is seeking volunteers to build a house for a family with four children, the Barnstable Patriot reported.

"Out of the blue," Rick Maitland and Mary Lou Duquette-Maitland offered their rental lot on Ginger Lane to the non-profit organization after their rental home on that lot had a fire a few years ago.

The family who will live in the home has triplets and another child and is very grateful for the opportunity, Habitat Executive Director Vicki Goldsmith told the Patriot.

Construction is expected to begin in early August and new volunteers are welcome to participate in the first Habitat project in Barnstable since 2005.

Get Involved: A community kick-off event for the project will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the South Congregational Church in Centerville.
