Blizzard Warning Issued as Barnstable Battens Down

Up to 14 inches of snow and winds gusting to 50 mph are on the way.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for Barnstable on Tuesday as a major storm rolled in.

The storm is expected to dump 8-14 inches of snow, lower visibility to less than a quarter mile at times and generate winds of 50 mph.

The blizzard warning is effective 7 p.m. Tuesday through 1 p.m. Wednesday. It is also in effect all over the Cape and Islands, which are expected to get the worst of the Tuesday-into-Wednesday storm. Previously, the National Weather Service had issued a blizzard watch for the area.
